The EdgeRouter series runs “Vyatta” under the hood. If you were comfortable in configuring EdgeRouters via the CLI or config files, then you could easily run “vyOS” instead either as a VM or on physical hardware. It would take a bit of a learning curve since there is NO webGUI in vyOS currently. But it is much more robust and currently up to date compared to the long “dead” Vyatta project. The structure and hierarchy of configuration nodes may look familiar to many Cisco and Juniper users.
