Versace Oud Noir Eau de Parfum
About this deal
Miguel has been a Fragrantica editor and columnist since 2013, and his work has been recognized by the Fragrance Foundation and the Perfumed Plume Awards several times, as well as by the Art and Olfaction Awards. There’s a suggestion of clove entwined with praline. Deep, enigmatic and unforgettable. So glamorous, you’ll be reaching for this fragrance next time you’re invited to a red carpet ball or the Oscars. A wonderful choice for a sultry night out – or in! This lovely aromatic perfume combines bitter orange, petitgrain, and orange blossom for the top notes, agarwood and saffron for the middle notes, and patchouli, vetiver, and juniper for the base notes.

Additionally6, a nonspecific woodsy undertone emerges after while, which fits in nicely with the rest. First oud fragrance I ever tried. Sprayed it and thought "that smells familiar", couldn't place it though. Little while later I thought "Spicebomb." Definitely some similarities. Pleasant scent, sweet, not sure it told me what oud smells like yet. Will have to sample again. Oud’s like an enigmatic character. It’s got depth, like an ocean of stories in a single drop. But hold your horses, it’s not playing the gender game. Oud doesn’t have a him or her tag.

I have to say that these are not the most complex fragrances, but they are rich and alluring. They are, above all, very elegant and refined perfumes, based on oud, spices, woods and leather. The feminine version takes on a strong floral (rose and peony) theme as well, but both can be unissex fragrances. Having said this, I recommend these two scents for any lover of the oriental/woody genre.

Cons: There are quite a few rose/oud pairings out there so it doesn’t feel entirely unique but is well done. Immortel is perfect for nature lovers or women who want an edge in the workplace. Like with most Ouds, it lasts a long time and is slightly overpowering, changing its fragrance somewhat from day to night and from season to season. At this stage, the fragrance gets very soft, but still alluring and dare I say mysterious/intoxicating. I could see how people who want something "out of the ordinary" in a designer scent(especially one that have oud in the name)would be disappointed. But I'm not one of those and this was easily my favorite part.:)
