Then I’ll have another chance to meet your daughter,’ said the Princess, ‘because if I remember correctly, I’m opening the Fitzmolean’s Frans Hals exhibition next year. London, 1988. Royal fever sweeps the nation as Britain falls in love with the ‘people’s princess’ HRH Diana, Princess of Wales. This means for Scotland Yard, the focus is on the elite Royalty Protection Command and its commanding officer. My years in reading through Jeffrey Archer books has been a delight! I would impatiently wait for the next book to show up on the market! He is an excellent, gifted writer. His depth of insight, his humour, the way his mind works in telling a complete story that leaves one wanting and waiting for the next book. Thank you, Mr. Archer for giving me so many good hours of reading. R.Charles Reply
They were a gift from a particularly unpleasant individual to his fiancée a few days after she had jilted him. When she held them up to her eyes and adjusted the focus, two nails shot out and blinded her. At his trial the accused was asked by prosecuting counsel why he’d done such an evil thing, and he simply replied, “I didn’t want her to look at another man ever again.”’ I noticed you didn’t waste much time before chatting up her lady-in-waiting,’ said William, when Inspector Hogan joined him. As I said, I'll be starting the series from the beginning and will then look forward to the next in line !!! They also accepted that Mr Booth Watson QC wouldn’t be satisfied until William and Ross were made to face a disciplinary hearing, before being ignominiously dismissed from the force for unacceptable behaviour while serving as police officers. The Clifton Chronicles is divided into seven novels that are Only Time Will Tell (2011), The Sins of the Father (2012), Best Kept Secret (2013), Be Careful What You Wish For (2014), Mightier Than the Sword (2015), Cometh the Hour (2016) and This Was a Man (2016).
London 1988, and the nation has fallen under the spell of ‘the peoples princess’ HRH Diana, Princess of Wales! There were a couple of uncomfortable moments for me (but then I got over myself...) when the story wove around characters who were real people and members of the British Royal Family, with one behaving very indiscreetly! Once the Princess’s convoy had disappeared from sight, the Commissioner and the Hawk walked across to join them. An outrider from the Special Escort Group swept into Scotland Yard, closely followed by a green Jaguar and an unmarked Land Rover, while two police motorcycles brought up the rear, completing the royal convoy. This is another wonderful and engrossing book from Jeffrey Archer, which I loved. I whizzed through it, as it was fast paced and full of action, which kept me excited and eager to read on. one wonders just how much truth there is in this unlikely tale? But then Jeffrey Archer does seem to be very well connected with the more scurrilous scandals of not only the The British Royal Family!!
As I said at the start this is my second read in the series and both have been hugely enjoyable, so much so that I am off to hunt out the missing books in the series.
Biography of Jeffrey Archer
Intertwined with this is the story of Miles Faulkner, William's arch nemesis, and his fallout with his crook of a counsel Booth Watson. You also see Christina and Beth make peace, sort of. James Buchanan makes a cameo too. Over forty years, he has mastered the shady deal and by the 1960s is a millionaire. Taking advantage of the British, he chose to permit groups to say the North Sea oil drilling rights with little cash down. Metcalfe creates Prospecta Oil, a paper organization designed to appear accurate and produce in investors, to be left striking to dry whilst the lowest drops out. 4] A Prisoner of Birth (2008)
Despite committing countless vicious crimes over many years, including murder, on more than one occasion, they proved almost impossible to charge, let alone convict, because no one was willing to come forward and testify against them, being too frightened of the consequences.’ A passion, ma’am. But it was my wife Beth, who’s keeper of pictures at the Fitzmolean, who chose the name.’ THE UNPUTDOWNABLE THRILLER FROM THE BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE CLIFTON CHRONICLES – PERFECT FOR FANS OF KEN FOLLET, JOHN GRISHAM and DANIEL SILVA I’d better make sure I’m wearing at least a coronet if I’m not to be told off again,’ she added as the lift doors opened on the first floor. The two storylines are clever with many twists and turns, making for a fascinating and gripping read. Archer is adept at pulling many threads together to produce a satisfying conclusion, and it goes without saying that the research involved is exceptional. A terrific read! The fact she disobeyed you probably means she’ll be the most interesting person I’ll meet today,’ whispered Diana as the lift doors closed. ‘Why did you call her Artemisia?’ This is a fast, entertaining, engrossing read. Most of the characters have a certain charm, even some of the crooks! While there are different stories woven throughout, I never felt confused or lost. He has a way to introduce A Twist in the Tale ( no pun intended), but have always found his books fast paced having-meticulously planned plots, that hardly seems unreal.
