Hope Is a Drug is preceded by the singles “I See You,” “Blameless,” “One of Us,” and “All the Best”. I have found the words to be more direct than on his other albums, easier to connect with and find a message in that means something to yourself, as well as to Charlie. With intimate ballads such as ‘I See You’ and uptempo pop songs such as ‘Blameless’ and the upcoming ‘All The Best’, the album showcases an artist confidently pushing the boundaries of a remarkable 20 year career.

And although they convey a sense of sadness and regret in places, ultimately they are utterly uplifting and heartwarming.
