The book is well written, holding the attention and providing plenty of intrigue as to where the story would go. Could you have a more intriguing opening sentence, one that sets up the premise of this extraordinary page-turner of a novel in just one line? The concept could have been catastrophic, demonstrating the risks money and greed can present, especially to families; creating irreversible crevices that are impossible to repair. I was advised that the fire brigade was at that very moment cutting passengers out of the coach who were still trapped in their seats.I really enjoyed this book, exploring a simple family dynamic familiar to us all with the added hint of scandal throughout. The characters are engaging enough, but they don’t actually start the story about ‘the inheritance’ of the title until halfway through the book by, which time I wasn’t really that bothered what they did with it! Caroline is worried that the money might be due to illegal goings on, but Nathan and Ellie's husband, James, want to split up the money immediately.
